The eighth draft poem for Matthew Sweeney's Guardian Unlimited workshop, which has turned out to be an enjoyable and productive exercise (my thanks to Rob Mackenzie, then, and his self-imposed writing schedule I adopted):
You do this convincingly and well, Ben - getting your narrators to say (and almost believe) exactly the opposite of what they really believe, which only becomes clear by the end.
Thank you, Rob and Barbara. W.S.Graham's excellent lines are certainly to be thanked for inspiring some interesting writing across the blogs. I'm looking forward to Sweeney's shortlist now, to see what those writing more furtively have come up with...
